Greetings Fellow Historians!

This site was created many years ago as a place to stash old letters that were spared from obscurity so that historians or descendants of those who wrote the letters may benefit in their historical or genealogical research.

Since the original (free) website offered by WordPress had limited bandwidth, I was compelled to start additional Spared & Shared websites in order to archive the numerous transcriptions and scans of the letters. As of 2022, there are now 23 Spared & Shared websites. Links to most of these websites may be found in the menu bar at right. If you are interested in finding the Civil War Letters I have transcribed you can find them a website I created called Billy Yanks & Johny Reb Letters. There are literally links to thousands of transcribed letters posted there.

If you are interested in staying abreast of the letters or diaries I am currently working on or have recently published on Spared & Shared, please follow me on Spared & Shared Facebook.
